1.
Throughout this short spring semester, I have
learned a lot in terms of improving my photography skills; particularly that it
doesn’t matter what kind of camera one uses to shoot their photos it’s the
outcome of the result that matters. Also, it takes 10,000 photos to get a decent/
nice shot; as a result in this class perfection wasn’t needed simply effort and
proper writing style. The depth of field and long/short exposure to the item
being captured is important; therefore I learned how to control the depth of
field and the correspondence of the aperture to make the image look sharp. In addition,
I learned that for a photographer to overcome their familiarity they must step
out of their zone of comfort to experience and detect their gifts; for someone
to shoot the same picture using the same techniques does not make them improve
in their skills. Coming to class, I have already experienced the technique of
shooting photos from different angles and using different source of lights to
complement the beauty of the photograph. However, shooting several images from
different angles using different techniques has allowed me to interpret the
same photograph capture in different positions in various different ways. The
way one human eye sees something it is different than what another individual’s
eye may capture. For examples the
portraits below can widely be interpreted in different ways and has its
uniqueness that brings out the beauty of the image. The photograph of the model
with a low cut is well detailed in the black and white composition compliments
the beauty of her freckles and her low haircut. For this particular photo I tried
the original and tried fluorescent lighting techniques to determine which one
stands out and reveals various details. Unlike this next photograph below, I
learned that a portrait doesn’t mean that the model must be directly looking at
the camera and it should be only one photo of the person; therefore with that
understanding I used 4 different photographs of the same person and made a
framed collage out of it using natural lighting from inside using the window.
2. Based on my understanding of the depth of field in photography is what impacts the quality of the image that one captures which focuses the lens of the camera at a single point but will stretch the focus point to sharpen the picture. To achieve a minimum depth of field you will need to be outside the field therefore it depends on the distance between the cameras and object that is being shot; and to achieve the maximum depth of field you must have a fast shutter speed so that the picture look sharper.
3.
To capture
blurred action you will need to be outside the depth of field to capture an
image. One of the best technique to use for capturing motion is to use a faster
shutter speed to have a sharp focus on the object that you are capturing, to
achieve a stop action and blurred action technique you must use a slow shutter
speed precisely on a tripod to maintain a steady photograph of the object or
sometimes panning the camera to follow the subject in focus.
4.
While I was
shooting different images, I paid attention to my camera mde sure it was at the
right mode such as the proper aperture and shutter speed, I shot several
different images before choosing my top 5 to post which required simplicity and
my individed attention.
I saw her I asked for her permission and shot the picture, the natural lighting seemed perfect without the soon distracting the subject.
While the make-up artist was working on her
client I saw good quality light and asked for permission to shoot while they
were still in the processing of getting ready.
The quality of the picture was great sunset in Virginia, the various shift in colors makes the subject interesting and the fact that it is properly framed.
The squirrel was not an easy model
for me to capture, I needed to be silent and patient to avoid scarring it away even
though the photograph was captured before it went away.
This photograph contains a lot of details, from the way the
model is positioned and the makeup such as lipstick, eyelashes and even her
hair; her skin tone complements the beauty of her makeup. Aperture of f/5.3,
shutter speed 1/60 and a depth of field of 40mm were used to shoot.
5.
For the landscape photograph underneath, there
were a few challenges encountered while shooting it which the main goal was to
shoot the image in the morning or evening to avoid a lot of distractions and
unnecessary lighting. During different part of the day you start to notice
different types of lights that affects the subject background, thereof it is
important to shoot in an area where there is average light which is what will
affect the quality of the photograph.
